Last weekend, hundreds of people turned out for I <3 [RE]seda Blvd – the final event of the [RE]visit [RE[seda Blvd ioby Challenge Grant series. Attendees were treated to a Muay Thai martial arts demonstration by Muay Thai America Gym and hosted by the House of Vitamins, a competitive Poetry Slam and live music hosted by Collective Lifestyle, art and sneaker exhibit with live music and DJ hosted by Reload L.A. with Beats & Pieces, art exhibit and micro-roast coffee pour overs at Domestique Cycles and live painting and kids crafts hosted by the Public Art Initiative in concert with Aromagica Sol & Luna.

In addition to all the activities, this was the first Reseda Blvd event to host food trucks, including Jogasaki Sushi Burrito, the Boba Truck, Dreamy Creations Cupcakes, Richeeze Grilled Cheese Melts, Kash Kash Lebanese BBQ and Chanchos Tacos.

[RE]visit [RE]seda Blvd is a partnership of the Museum of the San Fernando Valley, Northridge Sparkle Campaign, CSUN, Northridge South Neighborhood Council, The Northridge Chamber of Commerce, and Council District 12. As LA’s first Great Street, Reseda Blvd was eligible to compete for grant money to challenge the traditional streetscape and create a place for gathering. Our winning proposal sought to bring the arts to the streets, taking advantage of the Great Streets amenities and adding new custom “flex furniture” designed by LA-Mas. The flex furniture has served as a stage for the vocal stylings of CSUN’s Acasola a capela group and as the backdrop for the Halloween costume competition for the Trick or T[RE]at [RE]seda Blvd event; it hosted a jazz duo at the [RE]visit [RE]seda Blvd Holiday Bazaar; and provided satellite stages for the poetry slam, and live music at I <3 [RE]seda Blvd.
